Broadcast
Broadcast were formed in 1995 by the core duo of Trish Keenan and James Cargill, echoes of the BBC Radiophonic Workshop, jazz, movie soundtracks and psychedelia abound in their music, but rather than sounding merely retro, it has a life of its own and doesn’t belong to any one particular era. In that sense, it is timeless. Trish Keenan passed away in 2011, but her music lives on. This year has seen a welcome batch of releases from Warp Records, including the first ever appearance on vinyl for 2009 tour only album ‘Mother Is The Milky Way’ and ‘The Maida Vale Sessions’.

Regal Worm
Regal Worm is now five albums old. It's a project that over the last decade has seen Jarrod Gosling (I Monster, Cobalt Chapel) develop a unique take on progressive and psychedelic rock. It's probably as much pop as it is rock—guitars are present but they've never really been the fulcrum. From his attic studio (Pig View), this one man band (with occasional guests), has built on his experience making twisted electronic pop with I Monster to construct his vision of musical hairiness; past, present, and future. All five albums to date have the unique stamp of Regal Worm—playful, technical, lysergic and sometimes scary, and alongside this common thread, there's always been something new thrown in. The last two albums, 'The Hideous Goblink' and 'Worm!' have both displayed a lean towards electronic, angular and spiky flavours. A punk attitude has always been key to this "hairy". Does the Worm rebel? Always.
